From 20 March to 29 March 2007 UNITRACC trained Indian decision makers at the competence centre of the Indian Society for Trenchless Technology (INDSTT) in New Delhi with the online course programme "Trenchless 101". The course dealt with the latest trenchless alternatives for the new installation and rehabilitation. The seminar closed with the two-day event "No-Dig India" under the subheading "No-Dig India Capacity Building for Urban Renewal through Trenchless Technology" where the participants of the course were awarded their certificates. Robert Stein, managing director of Knowledge Factory, UNITRACC's operating company, icontributed to the event by giving a lecture on the sustainability of supply and disposal infrastructures.

CDM

CDM recently completed an in-depth, two-phase study to assess the potential for membrane technologies to expand the reuse of secondary effluent. Commissioned by the Water Environment Research Foundation, CDM, in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, conducted research that will guide utilities and regulatory agencies in expanding wastewater reuse. Since rapid urbanization and severe regional droughts make it clear that fresh water supplies cannot continue to indefinitely meet water demands, wastewater reuse will be needed to ensure water sustainability.

The two tunnel tubes of the Cabrera Railway Tunnel near Valencia are completed: The Herrenknecht Double Shield tunnel boring machine (TBM) S-373 achieved breakthrough after the second tunnel on September 25, 2008 – 5 months ahead of schedule. This means that the planned overall construction time was cut by a quarter. Tunnelling performances of up to 106 meters per day were achieved during the completion of the shell of the two approx. 6,000 meter long tubes, so that the tunnel was ready to "accommodate" the railway technology in only 14 months.
