Sogea Construction (Vinci) is to build three wastewater treatment plants and a drinking water plant in France
Sogea Construction has secured the contract for the reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant serving the Angers Loire Métropole agglomeration. The new plant will occupy an area of 90,000 sq. metres. Its capacity will be raised to 285,000 p.e., i.e. 65,000 cu. metres/day, with a peak throughput of 5,500 cu. metres/hour in rainy weather. This contract is valued at 50 million Euros.

New district heating lines for Business Park Hannover-Nord - An unconventional solution
With a combination of pipe-ramming and horizontal direction drilling, Meyder GmbH Kanal und Tiefbau has laid two district heating lines beneath Vahrenwalder Strasse on the Hannover-Langenhagen city boundary on behalf of Stadtwerke Hannover AG, Hannover’s public utility company. The unconventional drilling strategy for the construction projectthat supplies district heating to Business Park Hannover-Nord was developedand put forward by the contractor together with Emunds+Staudinger GmbH.

Mapping the Underworld (MTU)
Many of the UK's existing buried assets were laid in Victorian times when the need to record accurate details of location and depth was not a priority. Even if such records were made, the reference points for measurements will probably have been lost - kerb lines have probably moved and buildings might well have been knocked down and replaced. Since then, many more pipes and cables have been laid and now records occur in many different formats including paper, microfiche, and digital, but very few of these are compatible as there has never been a single common standard for this data.

After driving some 13.5 km – three years and eight months after starting out from Bodio – the second tunnel boring machine reached the multifunction station at Faido. The breakthrough took place in the afternoon with a deviation of only a few centimetres.

Vinci wins contract to build two tunnels in the United States
Vinci Construction Grands Projets, leader of a consortium with two American companies – Parsons RCI Inc. and Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc. – has signed a contract with King County in Washington state for the construction of two tunnels. Built within the framework of an overall wastewater treatment system, the tunnels will carry wastewater to the new treatment plant at Brightwater in King County, north of Seattle, before discharging treated wastewater into the sea.

The use of flexible tube liners in the rehabilitation of house connection pipes has taken hold as a technically mature alternative to costly "dig-out" repairs. Frequently, those house connection pipes that are in need of repair have not been installed in a professional manner. They commonly have sharp bends that are impassable for many of the liner systems prevalent in the industry. Frequently, a substitute is used that fails to produce satisfactory results.

This is the first contribution of a three-part series that deals with the following approach: "Master plan for a sustainable supply and disposal infrastructure of mega cities". It is motivated by the fact that, due to the immense growth of the congested urban areas, the quality and sustainability of the underground supply and disposal infrastructure is gaining more and more importance, which, however, hardly effects the way of their planning. The single installation of sewers and pipelines with all its disadvantages is still predominantly applied. The aim of the technical paper series at hand is to present alternatives which do not only meet the requirements of sustainable construction but which may also be of high economic benefit.

Construction of sewage tunnel: "A Malata — Priorño" (Ferrol, Spain)
The project is located in Galicia, in the Northwest of Spain. It is included in the Sewage disposal scheme from Ferrol. Its total investment is about 170 million euros. The Ministry of Environment, by means of the Confederación Hidrográfica del Norte, is the owner of the project. It is necessary the construction of a tunnel of 7.344 meter long and with 3.7 meters of excavation diameter. The tunnel is being executed at the present time, using an open face T.B.M. Robbins 1215-265. This text provides information related to geological and geotechnical characteristics, modifications of the project and complexities of the tunnel execution.
