The small contractor's new best friend — Ditch Witch 150R/T/B Locating System
Feb 09, 2007
The Charles Machine Works, Inc. (CMW), manufacturer of Ditch Witch® underground construction equipment, has introduced a compact electronic locating device designed to make the small contractor’s job safer and easier. The Ditch Witch 150R/T/B is an easy-to-use pipe- and cable-avoidance system that detects common, active, passive, and beacon frequencies.
CMW, the only equipment manufacturer in the underground construction industry that designs and produces its own brand of tracking and locating electronics, designed the new 150R/T/B with the small contractor in mind. Plumbers, fence builders, pool contractors, small utility contractors, and municipality employees are among those who can benefit from this compact, lightweight system, which is used to identify the location of buried utilities before underground construction work begins. The optional beacon enables the user to trace water, sewer and drain lines.
With its simple user interface — only four buttons and an easy-to-read display — even novice users can quickly learn to operate the 150R/T/B, minimizing training time and increasing productivity. To ensure safety and eliminate confusion, color-coded decals identify the frequency on which the transmitter, receiver and beacon operate.
The 150R/T/B comes with a convenient carrying bag, so it’s easy to transport to remote locations. A handy flap allows easy access to the transmitter, so it can remain in the bag. And because it weighs only a little more than five pounds, the 150R/T/B can be used all day without wearing out the operator.
Keeping the system operating properly all day is no challenge. Both the receiver and transmitter use common “C” alkaline batteries, which are easy to replace. And even though it is a relatively small system, the 150R/T/B is built to last, with rugged, rain-resistant housings that stand up to even the harshest construction conditions.
The Ditch Witch organization specializes in the design and manufacture of high-quality underground construction equipment. The company is a one-stop source for trenchers, vibratory plows, pneumatic piercing tools, backhoes, electronic tracking and locating tools, horizontal directional drilling systems, drill pipe, downhole tools, vacuum excavation systems, mini excavators, excavator-tool carriers, and mini skid steers.
