To decrease the pressure losses in the given example, and thus to improve the efficiency of the system, a liquid flow accelerator that was previously heated to approximately 40° C is added to the flushing fluid in small quantities (0.12 %) by means of a dosing pump before the flushing fluid reaches the high-pressure pump.

The flow accelerator used here has been tested for toxicity and biological degradability by the Institute of Hygiene in Gelsenkirchen (Germany). It is an organic product with biodegradable ingredients. In the concentration used, that is 0.12 l/m³ of flushing water, the flow accelerator is categorized into the water damage class O. The product is available in containers of 25 liters, making one container sufficient for more than 200 m³ of flushing water [Ney2003].
