Suction tubes – Nominal size

The nominal size of the suction tube needs to correspond hydraulically to the volumetric flow rate of the vacuum pump.

A combination of these volumetric flow rates and nominal hose sizes results in air velocities of 25 m/s up to 42 m/s. Given a volumetric flow rate of 1,200 m³/h to 1,500 m³/h, sewers ranging in size from DN 200 (8'') to DN 800 (32'') would require a suction tube with a nominal size ranging between DN 100 (4'') and DN 125 (5''), for sewers between DN 800 (32'') to DN 1,200 (48'') a suction tube between DN 125 (5'') and DN 150 (6'') is required [Gütes03].
