High-pressure flushing hose – Construction

There exists a general distinction between rubber and plastic hoses, although their structure is essentially the same.

  • The core tube (3) forms the inside of the hose, which is designed to prevent blockages and pressure loss.

  • For rubber hoses, the pressure reinforcement (2) is composed of textile and steel wire mesh, whereas, for plastic hoses, it is made of polyester and polyamide mesh. Newer high-pressure flushing hoses are generally equipped with fabric inserts of single- or multi-layer plastic fibers. Hoses with steel wire mesh are only used in case of higher operational pressures for special applications in industry. Due to their greater overall weight, they are rarely used in sewer cleaning.

  • The outer hose cover (1) is made of rubber, polyurethane or polyamide to safeguard the hose against abrasion and corrosion [Geib2002].
