Separation catch basin - Construction design and performance
The development of the separation catch basin was based on the goal of retaining the settleable solids entering the system through the surface runoff, and stopping the remobilisation of solids that are already settled in the catch basin, even during heavy rain events [SteinR08].

The details of the separation catch basin are depicted in the figure. It consists of a combination of the components from the conventional catch basin with an invert outlet and the catch basin with a silt trap, and allows for a three-step separation of the solids contained in the surface water
