Research from the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany concerning this matter showed that only about half of the estimated working time was available for the cleaning of sections and shafts on site. One third of the working time was used for tooling and traveling. Especially in the case of cleaning vehicles without a water recovery tank the refilling of the flushing water took up a high share of the tooling time. Approximately 12 % of the working time was used for traveling between cleaning locations and the depot [Orth2008].
