OriginOil Engages Manufacturing Partner for Commercial Rollout of Its Oil and Gas Water Cleanup System
OriginOil, Inc. developer of a breakthrough technology to convert algae into renewable crude oil, announced it is gearing up for the commercial roll out of its oil and gas wastewater clean-up systems and has selected Los Angeles-based Clean Water Technology (CWT), to manufacture the company’s systems. OriginOil will work with PACE to engineer the first commercial units, designed to help process up to 1 barrel of petroleum-contaminated “frac flowback” water per minute, or up to 60,000 gallons per day.

Bringing pure water and sanitation to Romania’s Galati county
The EBRD is supporting further modernisation of water and wastewater infrastructure in Romania with a RON 55.5 million (approximately €12.8 million) loan to SC APA Canal SA Galati , the water utility company of Galati county in the south-eastern part of the country, which will benefit about 400,000 residents.

‘Beckton Becky’ ready for action in £190m sewage work upgrade
‘Beckton Becky’, a state-of-the-art tunnelling machine, has been lowered into position 20 metres below ground, as part of a £190m project to extend one of Europe's largest sewage treatment works. Beckton sewage works in east London is being upgraded to enable the site to treat 60 per cent more sewage, so it can fully treat increased flows during heavy rainfall, preventing the site becoming overloaded and discharging into the River Thames.

African Water Facility Helps Boost Socio-economic Development in Ethiopia and South-Sudan through Water Investments
Millions of people living in the Baro-Akobo-Sobat (BAS) area of the Nile Basin are to benefit from a range of multi-purpose water resources projects to be planned by the Nile Basin Initiative. In May 2012, the African Development Bank approved a €2 million grant from the African Water Facility to finance the development study needed to attract the investments required to implement them. The overall project is supported jointly by the New Partnership for Africa’s Development- Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (NEPAD-IPPF).
