TRIC replaced an 8" Vitrified Clay Pipe (VCP) wastewater mainline that laid beneath the office to the plant.

The tunnel boring machine (TBM) "Harriet" successfully completed the second tube of the "Port of Miami Tunnel" at the beginning of May 2013. The TBM with a diameter of 12.86 meters mastered complex geological and hydrogeological challenges when crossing under the harbor twice. A machine concept was employed that Herrenknecht developed in collaboration with the client specifically for this ambitious project. The road tunnel will significantly alleviate the traffic congestion in the world's largest cruise port and the city center of Miami (Florida).

Over the next year, the researchers will optimize an inexpensive charcoal product called biochar for the water treatment solution. It will be tested on water samples from the Eagle Ford Shale.

A large-diameter road tunnel will cross beneath the strait in Istanbul and expand the infrastructure bottleneck between Europe and Asia. The technical planning of the tunnelling operations poses complex challenges. Therefore, the construction consortium ordered a specially adapted tunnel boring machine from Herrenknecht. The 13.6 meter giant, a Mixshield, was completed in early July 2013 in Schwanau and is now on the way to the jobsite in Turkey.
