The principle of the rotating elbow is based on an arch-shaped sewer section that can be pivoted around the centre axis by 90°. In an upright position it induces a wastewater backup whose height can be infinitely varied according to the size of the constructed arch.
Exceeding the allowable backup level is prevented due to the fact that the flow cross section remains unobstructed throughout the entire range of motion of the elbow. The distinctive design feature of the rotating elbow is the placement of all drive elements outside of the pipe, thus creating the necessary conditions for a largely maintenance- and trouble-free operation.
