These sealing devices are activated automatically (without auxiliary energy) or mechanically (with auxiliary energy), i.e. manually via pneumatic or hydraulic working pistons or an electric motor. Therefore, they are always present in the system and, in addition to their use for automated cleaning processes, they may also be used for flow control (i.e. blocking, redirecting, restraining).
