Leak Correction – AMR system helps small town resolve big nonrevenue water problem
Nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, the city of Clayton, Ga., is a small town with a big nonrevenue water problem. The International Water Assn. defines nonrevenue water as water that has been produced and is “lost” before it reaches the customer. According to the American Water Works Assn., such losses cost public water systems approximately $2.8 billion in yearly revenue.

Improving water services in suburban areas of Capljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Maynilad plugs 12,000 leaks in 1Q 2012
West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) repaired nearly 12,000 leaks in the first quarter of 2012. This is approximately 17% higher compared to the same period last year. Most of these leaks were found on primary and secondary lines in Caloocan, Manila and Quezon City.

WABAG to build a new sewage treatment plant for the city of Madinah in Saudi Arabia
VA TECH WABAG Austria is to supply a new sewage treatment plant to Madinah in Saudi Arabia, thus providing advanced, environment-friendly wastewater disposal for around 1 million people. The municipal wastewater will be purified using mechanical/biological treatment and downstream wastewater filtration, which will enable the reuse of the treated water for agricultural irrigation purposes and also help to protect natural water resources in an arid region. The project, which has an order volume of EUR 15.4 million, will be completed in 2013.
