Rehabilitation and Maintenance of Drains and Sewers

To inspect, repair, renovate and replace, respectively to align the existing sewers with the aggravated requirements of the water protection association will be a great task during the next few years. The highest aim of all measures is to create a functioning and sustainable sewer net, which safely and tightly borders sewage between the sewage producer and the sewage plant and can also be maintained easily. This requires a substantiated expert knowledge in planning, construction and operation as well as in maintenance.

This web-based expert information system provides a comprehensive overview over the state of technology in this field and over the methods of damage elimination and the recreation of full serviceability of outdated, damaged or partially destroyed underground pipelines in particular.

Furthermore, the authors give a detailed presentation of pipe materials and pipe joints and other pipe-specific ancillary conditions as well as of damage types, -causes and -consequences as essential basics for the selection of suitable maintenance measures and their realisation. In addition, special problems and requirements concerning the installation and maintenance of sewers in water protection areas in special sections are dealt with by taking into account the corresponding regulations.
