The beaded balls are composed of a sheet steel body with s-shaped rubber beads or grooves to increase the flow resistance and to overcome obstacles. Additionally, the flow resistance can be influenced by partially filling the cleaning ball body with water. The beaded balls have a maximum diameter of about 0.5 DN of the sewer that is to be cleaned. For reasons of adjustment to the inner width of the shaft cover, beaded balls with a maximum outer diameter of 59 cm are used in practice.
