Cleaning of semi-finished products
The bonding surfaces of the pipes must be free from contamination. Mechanically removing of soiling, separating layers, oxidation layers with a scraper or a rotary scraper immediately before welding. The inner edge must be deburred and the outer edge rounded off.
Cleaning of electrofusion fitting (heated coil connector)
The fitting should be thoroughly cleaned inside with a cleaning agent and absorbent non-fibrous paper.
Inserting pipe ends into the electrofusion fitting
When locating the electrofusion fitting attention must be paid that fitting and pipe are not tilted or forcibly inserted otherwise the heated coil could be moved or damaged.
Welding parameters
Correct calculation and maintenance of welding periods, welding temperatures and welding pressures
Welding
Only welding equipment suited to the electrofusion fitting should be used. Before welding the welding equipment is adjusted to the welding parameters corresponding to the diameter and nominal pressure of the pipe.
Non-destructive testing of welding seam
Visual inspection, ultrasonic testing, x-ray testing
Monitoring of welding work
Welding protocols or documentations
