Imtech chosen as strategic technology partner by Severn Trent Water until 2020
Royal Imtech N.V. announces that Capula, one of the operating companies of Imtech UK, following an extensive European (OJEU) procurement process, has been appointed by Severn Trent Water as their strategic technology partner with immediate effect. For Imtech, this means contracts worth up to tens of millions euro each year up to 2020.

USDA Rural Development Announces Funding in Rural Alaska
Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Dallas Tonsager announced that 16 rural communities in Alaska will receive funding to improve public health and the quality of local water supplies. Funding will be used by the predominantly Native communities to plan, design and construct community water and wastewater disposal projects. Funding is provided by USDA through the Rural Alaska Village Grant (RAVG) program.

High-Tech Premiere for TGV Tunnel
Two months earlier than planned, tunnel boring machine Charlotte reached the west side of the Vosges Mountains, concluding excavation for the first tube of the »Tunnel de Saverne«. A newly developed high-tech machine from Herrenknecht is being used, which can be converted inside the tunnel and adjusted for different soil conditions. The twin-tube rail tunnel is part of the section on the TGV Paris-Strasbourg line currently being expanded for train speeds of up to 320 kilometers per hour.

Veolia Water Releases Study on Process to Remove Pharmaceuticals and Phosphorus from Wastewater
Veolia Water North America (Veolia Water) announced study findings that showed the successful removal of pharmaceuticals and phosphorus from wastewater using its Actiflo® Carb technology. Over the course of an 8-week study, the presence of phosphorus and a variety of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), ranging from ointments to medications, were monitored after adding Actiflo® Carb to the traditional wastewater treatment process.

VINCI Construction UK wins two Saudi Arabian contracts
VINCI Construction UK, in a joint venture with Al Muhaidib Contracting Company (AMC), has won two separate contracts in Jeddah with the Saudi Arabian National Water Company. The contracts, with a combined worth of over £110 million, are for the design and build of the Briman Strategic Water Reservoir and the Al Khumra Lifting Station.

Tunnel for New Energy Center in Bern
In June 2012 the Bernese energy supply company Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) began with the gradual commissioning of the new Forsthaus energy center. The production concept of district heating, steam and electricity is unique in Switzerland and implements the federal capital’s sustainable energy strategy. A tunnel boring machine from Herrenknecht (AVND, diameter 3.6 m) excavated two utility tunnels to the nearest district heating hub, all in all more than 500 meters in length.

TPRF Provides Water Filter Systems to Flood Victims in Fiji
After two floods from torrential rains overwhelmed Fiji earlier this year, The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) contributed FJ$50,000 (US$30,000) to ensure that 1,000 families in Lautoka, Nadi and surrounding towns would receive tap-fitted waterfiltration systems to purify drinking water. This is the 21st grant given by TPRF in 11 nations to help provide basic necessities after flooding.
