For the removal of “light” deposits the chains are adjusted so that they are of the same length on both sides of the chain holder, and the two chains at the back have the same number of chain links with (figure A) or without (figure B) cutter inserts. When severe blockage (persistent deposits, such as mixtures of cement and mortar, lime scale etc.) and heavy root obstructions are to be removed, the chains are of the same length on both sides of the chain holder but in a step like arrangement, and are reinforced with cutter inserts at their ends (figure C) or without cutter inserts (figure D) [FI-KEG].
