Welcome to the course „Maintenance of drain and sewer systems – Cleaning Part 1”.
The cleaning process is a part of the maintenance and one of the most important arrangements for securing the functionality and performance of our drain and sewer systems. It is a task of paramount financial importance, considering our public sewer systems’ total length being about half a million kilometers.
The aim of this course is to acquaint you to the basic cleaning strategies and to enable you to develop optimized efficient ones, and finally to realize cleaning plans based on these. This is not only important for using financial resources efficiently, but also to clean as rarely as possible – which means only cleaning where it is really necessary, to prevent the structural integrity of the sewers from any potential damage taken within the cleaning process. For gathering the advanced knowledge you need, this module consists of four separate lessons:
The first module covers the subject area “Solids in sewer systems”, which has a significant relevance for the formation of deposits. Module two includes the theme “Cleaning strategy and program”. Module three deals with the topic “High pressure cleaning and cleaning vehicles”. And module four, which is depicting the end of the whole module, is about the complex of “Cleaning nozzles”. All four modules provide combined a good basis for developing optimized cleaning strategies and cleaning programs for any respective application.
You are independent in processing the modules. Never the less, I recommend following the chronological order of the modules, due to the fact that each module is based on the prior and always provides key knowledge for the following module.
I wish you great success in the completion of this module!
And as always: Stay curious!
