EPA Announces Final Study Plan to Assess Hydraulic Fracturing/Congressionally directed study will evaluate potential impacts on drinking water
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its final research plan on hydraulic fracturing. At the request of Congress, EPA is working to better understand potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water resources. Natural gas plays a key role in our nation’s clean energy future and the Obama Administration is committed to ensuring that we continue to leverage this vital resource responsibly.

New analysis reveals water management trails climate change on the boardroom agenda, despite significant near-term risk and opportunity
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Water Disclosure global report finds that 57% of the 190 publicly listed organizations that participated in the survey report board-level oversight of water policies, strategies, or plans. By comparison, a report released by CDP in September 2011 showed that 94% of Global 500 companies report board-level oversight of climate change, suggesting that corporate understanding of water as a business concern trails that of climate change. This is surprising, given that the majority of reported water-related risks and opportunities are recognized as near term.

Skanska Finland has signed an agreement for 100 percent of the shares of the construction company Soraset Yhtiöt Oy. Soraset is a civil construction company working with mainly infrastructure projects. It has about 270 employees and last year the net revenue was approximately EUR 100 M. Soraset is headquartered in Kangasala, in the region of Tampere, but is operating in the whole of Finland.

John Holland to Deliver Connors River Dam to Moranbah Pipeline in Central Queensland
John Holland has been selected as the preferred tenderer for the construction of the $400 million proposed Connors River Dam to Moranbah Pipeline in Central Queensland. The project involves the construction of 136 kilometres of large diameter buried pipeline that will carry around 45,000 megalitres of water per annum from the proposed Connors River Dam to the Bowen Basin and surrounding areas. When completed, the project will help meet the increasing water supply reliability and security needs of the region’s booming resources sector.
