Reef expands its trenchless activities

May 17, 2011

Reef Trenchless Technology South Africa, a family owned enterprise headed by brothers Willie and Chris Ehlers, was founded in 1996 and began in 1998 to market, sell and distribute a complete range of trenchless technology equipment and accessories to all kinds of construction industries on behalf of TT-UK Ltd.

The Ehlers brothers adopt a hands on approach and regularly visit Europe to learn about the TT Groups’ new Trenchless product developments. During a recent visit to TT-UK a bold decision was taken to purchase for demonstration purposes a GRUNDODRILL 7X Plus Horizontal Directional Drilling system.

Reef have had some outstanding success within their product sales remit selling GRUNDOMATs to contracting company Kelbore Horizontal Boring Company who carried out some of the longest ever bores recorded varying from 50 to 71 metres beneath a busy dual carriageway near the Coega Development Project.

Chris Ehlers commented that if it hadn’t been for the power, accuracy and reliability of the GRUNDOMAT these bore distances in South Africa’s testing soil conditions would not have been achievable.

Another headlining success was a GRUNDOBURST 1250 pipe renewal project outside of Mandela House home of the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Brynston, Johannesburg, with pipe replacement sizes ranging from 250 to 400mm. Willie Ehlers’ aspiration is to continue to bring the latest Trenchless pipe and cable laying technologies to Africa’s emerging markets.

As well as the showroom and dedicated offices, Reef have a fully fitted workshop and spare parts facility with trained fitters guaranteeing all South Africa Trenchless product customers prompt after sales service.

With Reef’s aim to support and serve their customer’s expectations, with quality performance and added value they are surely bound to achieve continued success for many years to come.
