New CFO for Thames Water

Aug 03, 2011

Stuart Siddall is to join Thames Water as chief finance officer (CFO).

He will start his new role at the end of September at Britain’s biggest water and sewerage company after leaving his current role as chief executive of The Association of Corporate Treasurers.

Stuart joined Price Waterhouse in Johannesburg after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. Returning to the UK, Stuart held several senior financial roles and was among the first students to qualify with the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Stuart has gained extensive experience in the construction, engineering and utilities sectors, including serving as finance director for Amec plc, Balfour Beatty Limited and Manweb plc.

He is set to replace Mark Braithwaite, Thames Water's current CFO, who is leaving the company to take up a key role at Macquarie. Martin Baggs, Thames Water's chief executive, said:
"Stuart has a proven track-record as a finance director in the construction, utilities and finance sectors.

"This experience and ability to deliver will stand the company in good stead as we enter the second year of our £1bn-a-year investment programme to 2015. I look forward to Stuart’s arrival in September.

"I also want to wish Mark well for the future and thank him for four years of truly outstanding service to the company, moving the business from being one of the worst performers in the water industry in England and Wales to among the leaders during his time here.”

Stuart said:
"I am looking forward to joining the Thames Water team and contributing to the company's ongoing success."
