ePIPE®'s Newest Patent: A Proven Solution for Water Conservation and Reducing Lead Leaching In Drinking Water Pipes

Jul 08, 2016

Pipe Restoration Technologies, LLC (PRT), makers of the ePIPE® Lead-Free, Leak-Free™ pipe restoration product line, announced today that it has been granted its 15th U.S. patent, #9352357, for the ePIPE epoxy coating system. The ePIPE system effectively and safely seals leaks and protects pipes from lead leaching.

“We are providing innovative, cost-effective solutions in response to current issues, such as water conservation and lead in water,” Pipe Restoration Technologies and ACE DuraFlo® CEO Larry Gillanders said. “ePIPE restoration applications save homeowners, businesses and utility companies money and time, compared to pipe replacements. Our customers also enjoy the benefits of minimal water system downtime, with most properties’ pipe systems coated and rehabilitated in less than one day.”

Pipes as small as 1/2'' in diameter can be protected from lead leaching and restored by sealing leaks in-place using the patented, minimally-invasive ePIPE process. Potable water lines, natural gas lines, HVAC systems, drains and fire sprinkler pipes in homes, apartments, high-rise hotels, office buildings, skyscrapers, condominiums and schools can be treated

ePIPE is approved by NSF for an immediate return to service in as little as 90 minutes. ePIPE epoxy coatings provide one of the fastest return to service epoxy lining products in the world, designed to protect drinking water pipes from leaks to enable water conservation, as well as reduce lead in water.  Using ePIPE, lead and copper levels are reduced to below the World Health Organization’s (WHO) cut-off levels.  The WHO cut-off level for lead is 10ppb. The United States EPA cut-off level is 15ppb.
