Aqua America Chief Environmental Officer Receives Pennsylvania American Water Works Association’s George Fuller Award
Jun 05, 2019
Aqua America Chief Environmental Officer Chris Crockett received the George W. Fuller Award by the Pennsylvania Section of the American Water Works Association. The George Warren Fuller Award is presented each year by AWWA to a member who has been selected by the Pennsylvania section for “distinguished service in the water supply field and in commemoration of the sound engineering skill, the brilliant diplomatic talent, and the constructive leadership of men and women in the association, which characterized the life of George Warren Fuller,” one of America’s most eminent engineers.
Aqua America Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Fox said, “This award is well-deserved, and we are all very proud of Chris and his accomplishments and contributions to the water industry. Chris is an extraordinarily talented engineer whose passion and commitment have made him one of the best in the industry, and we are fortunate to have him on our team.”
Crockett, who did not know about the award until it was presented, said, “I am very honored to receive the George Fuller award and hope to uphold the spirit of the award through the integrity, respect, and excellence we strive for every day at Aqua. I also want to thank my colleagues and mentors at Aqua for helping me achieve this honor.”
Crockett joined Aqua America as its chief environmental officer in June 2016 and was previously deputy commissioner for planning and environmental services at the Philadelphia Water Department, where he worked since 1995.
He has more than 20 years of experience in the water, storm water and wastewater industry and has participated in and led several innovative projects, including many that improve the environment and have a positive impact on water quality and operations performance.
Crockett, a licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania, is a Drexel University alumnus who earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, and his Master of Science and doctorate in environmental engineering from the university, where he also served as an adjunct professor.
Crockett has been involved in a variety of industry organization committees and has reviewed and published journal articles. He is a regular resource for news media looking to understand drinking water and environmental issues. Crockett is currently appointed to the Pennsylvania lead task force and is a board member of the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy and the Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin.
Aqua America is the second-largest publicly traded water utility based in the U.S., and serves more than 3 million people in Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Illinois, Texas, New Jersey, Indiana and Virginia.
