The First International Conference in the developing field of design and construction of underground multi-system utility tunnels (MUT) was initiated and backed by Israeli overnment Ministries, The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and Yefe Nof - Transportation, Infrastructure and Building Ltd.

The conference will take place at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, March 11-12, 2009.

MUTs accommodate all public utilities and have a great impact on their urban surroundings. Therefore, the field is important to town planners, various utility engineers, civil engineers, municipal authorities, utility companies, contractors and manufacturers involved in utility systems.

The conference will hold a range of discussions regarding construction, engineering, planning, operating and economical aspects of MUTs.

This field is innovative and developing and will present existing experience regarding planning and construction in Haifa and other towns worldwide.

The conference will also include professional tours in MUTs in Haifa and other engineering transportational projects.
