No Dig India Show 2015

As India prepares to reinvent itself yet again with the smart cities initiative, with an estimated Rs. 50,000 crores in funding being approved for the first phase, targeting 21, 2nd tier cities. The need of the hour is apparent, as of the 2011 census, cities account for 31% of the population and this upwardly mobile population accounts for 63% of the national GDP. It is expected that the urban infrastructure will account for 40% of the Indian population by the year 2030.

The smart cities initiative aims to elevate the quality of life of the people by being the driver of economic growth. A key aspect of this effort is the provision of quality urban self-sustainable, reliable, adequate and high quality utility services such as water supply, drainage, power, telecom, broadband & energy services necessary for the wellbeing of dwellers. Most of the selected cities lack the adequate subsurface infrastructure network and also the knowledgebase of appropriate engineering solutions for creating and maintaining such services. Trenchless technology techniques offer safe, disruption free and environmental friendly solutions to such challenges.

The challenge faced in the construction community is the wider dissemination and awareness of knowledge and information regarding subsurface utility engineering. It is therefore of utmost importance to reach the project planners, engineers and executioners engaged in the design, development and management of smart cities. IndSTT with its national and international member's network, aims at facilitating this knowledge and expertise development in the stakeholders through this year's trenchless event. The No Dig India Show - 2015 with the theme, "Trenchless Technology for Building Smart Cities" is scheduled from 16th to 17th December 2015. The intent being to promote and share, smart trenchless solutions for efficient and substantial use of available subsurface assets, resources and infrastructure, to enhance the quality of urban life and provide a clean and sustainable environment.

The event aims to facilitate the following to the stakeholders:
  • Assessment of trenchless requirements for smart cities
  • Preparing detailed project reports for trenchless projects for smart cities
  • Providing advisory services for trenchless projects for smart cities
  • Contracting trenchless services for smart cities
  • Providing trenchless project management for smart cities
  • Risk mitigation and waste disposal for smart city trenchless projects
