More Green Energy in Sri Lanka with HOBAS GRP
The vibrant small hydro power industry in Sri Lanka saw a further green accomplishment in the south of the country approximately 2 km from Dehilanda in Wellawaya at the river Kuda Oya. With a capacity of 1.2 MW and approximately 5.7 GWh output per year, which will be fed into the national grid of Sri Lanka Water, the hydropower plant will supply for about 6000 households. The owner, the private company Wellawaya Hydro Power Pvt Ltd, opted for a sustainable and environmentally sane penstock solution with HOBAS CC-GRP Pipes.

Pump-Storage Power Plant Nant de Drance: Machine Trio from Herrenknecht on a successful Course
Currently, the new Nant de Drance pumped-storage power plant with a planned capacity of 900MW is under construction in the Swiss canton of Valais. Machines from Herrenknecht are excavating both an access tunnel and vertical shafts. While the successful completion of the tunnelling work was already celebrated, the shaft construction machines are still in operation.

Hard Rock Tunnel Boring Machines are cutting tunnels through the Pyrenees
Two high-tech Herrenknecht tunnel boring machines completed an endurance test with bravura during long-distance tunnelling through the Pyrenees. After a total of 8.2 kilometers tunnelling through hard rock, the target line was reached with the final breakthrough in April 2013. The resulting cross-border tunnel project will be used for a high-voltage line to connect the French and Spanish electricity network with each other.
