Monica de la Cruz Re-elected as CEN/TC 155 Chair
Sep 17, 2020
Members of CEN/TC 155, the Technical Committee coordinating standards activities for plastic piping and ducting systems within CEN, the European Committee for Standardisation, have unanimously re-elected Monica de la Cruz for a new mandate of three years.
Monica de la Cruz is Managing Director of AseTUB, the sector group of plastic pipes and fittings manufacturers that is part of ANAIP, the Spanish Plastic Converters Association. She has been serving the plastic pipe industry for almost 20 years and brings in a lot of technical expertise in the CEN/TC 155 organisation.
Monica represents AseTUB in the TEPPFA Executive Committee and is active within various TEPPFA Working Groups and Task Forces with a specific focus on Standardisation and Circular Economy. She represents ANAIP in the Building and Construction Working Group in the Circular Plastic Alliance, Europe’s high level multi-stakeholder platform of industry, academia and public authorities, launched and facilitated by the European Commission, DG GROW, which aims for a substantial increase of the uptake of recycled content in new plastic products.
TEPPFA is a partner organization of CEN/TC 155 and has been involved in the development of many of the 223 standards currently in use, as well as over 40 projects that are presently being worked on. CEN/TC 155 is subdivided into 20 active Working Groups in which representatives of the 34 CEN member countries regularly meet and actively participate.
Ludo Debever, General Manager of TEPPFA commented: “Monica did an excellent job as Chair of CEN/TC 155 over the past six years. TEPPFA is therefore very pleased that Monica is available to chair CEN/TC 155 for another three years. TEPPFA members are very committed to the activities of CEN/TC 155 with active involvement of company standardisation experts in the development of new and in the continuously updating of existing European standards. The unanimous support proves that members highly appreciate her coordination and leading skills in a challenging European environment in which the various country specific positions have to be aligned. TEPPFA looks forward to the continuation of good, constructive cooperation for the coming three years.”
