Trenchless Renovation - Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Dresden, Germany, Relines Old Town Collector with Hobas NC Line®
Stadtentwässerung Dresden GmbH, a subsidiary of the Saxon State Capital Dresden and GELSENWASSER AG, is responsible for the collection and treatment of wastewater. The area at the Elbe River counts 500.000 inhabitants who consume an average of 100 l water per day. Including stormwater, around 60 million m3 of wastewater are collected and then treated in the Dresden-Kaditz treatment plant per year. These are in other words 120.000 m3 of wastewater on a dry day. A quick and safe discharge of this big quantity of water requires a well functioning sewer system. Parts of the network are, however, over 100 years old and constantly need to be repaired and renovated. Since 1990 Stadtentwässerung Dresden GmbH has invested 575 million Euros in the renovation and expansion of the sewer network as well as water treatment plants.

Short construction period and high level of safety
The large-scale sewage treatment plant Czajka, situated to the north-east of Warsaw, is scheduled to be finished in December 2010 – and this after only a two-year construction period. With a cleaning capacity of almost 450,000 cubic metres per day, designed for the equivalent of two million inhabitants, it will be the largest waste-water facility in Poland. Together with the Warbud construction company, PERI´s Polish engineers developed a cost-effective and comprehensive formwork and scaffolding concept which fulfilled all requirements regarding the best-possible concrete surfaces, short construction period and a high level of on-site safety.

With or without Trench - always with HOBAS®: Renovation of a Sewer Main in Strasbourg, FR
The reconstruction of the sewer main for the Rhine Harbour of Strasbourg was a model example of the complementary nature of open-dig and trenchless installation. Where the working space would have been insufficient, rehabilitation was carried out by sliplining prefabricated GRP NC Line panels. Wherever a trench was feasible, CC-GRP Pipes were laid in an excavated trench which was prepared in accordance with pipe installation standards and as the depth required.

Pemex Awards United Pipeline de Mexico $ 12.4 Million Pipeline Project
Insituform Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select Market: INSU) announced on 24th September that Insituform’s Mexican joint venture, United Pipeline de Mexico de C.V. ("UPM"), has been awarded a $12.4 million contract by the Mexican national oil and gas company Petróleos Mexicanos ("Pemex"). The contract includes the construction, replacement and rehabilitation of approximately 40 kilometers of pipelines in Mexico’s Chicontepec oil region. Insituform’s subsidiaries, Corrpro Companies, Inc. and The Bayou Company, Inc., will provide cathodic protection and field joint coating services for the project.
