Infrasense and Radar Solutions International Team to Map Utilities for 2 Liquid Natural Gas Facilities in Massachusetts
Infrasense and Radar Solutions International (RSI) recently teamed to complete utility mapping at two liquid natural gas facilities in Massachusetts. A combination of utility detection tools, including ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic time-domain metal detection, and electromagnetic induction were used to provide CADD-compatible maps of buried utilities at each site.

Conference spotlight on PVC4PIPES and 25 years of recycling
As many as eighteen papers (see list below) dealing with the commercial and technical aspects of PVC pipe systems were delivered at the recent Plastic Pipes XVII Conference and exhibition in Chicago. Subject matter varied from the molecular to the "spectacular" with in-depth analysis of PVC raw material and additives, breakthroughs in pipe design and installation methods, upward market trends for PVC-O pipe systems as well as recent findings in the sustainable nature of PVC pipe materials compared to non-plastic pipe systems. Furthermore, the Chicago conference marked the 25th anniversary of recycling PVC pipes and fittings.

Using PVC for the rehabilitation of sewers
Since the early 1970s, we have developed from being a prosperity-oriented and throwaway society to become more environmentally aware, though this same society adopts a highly critical attitude towards some real achievements. Why should PVC, of all things, be such a highly controversial material? This is mainly because it has been known, since the late 1980s, that many chloroorganic compounds, such as propellant gas, paint, solvents and plastics are toxic, carcinogenic, genetically harmful and damage the environment. Since then, the Green Party has pushed for the chlorine industry to be phased out. In terms of chemical structure, PVC contains a high proportion of chlorine, which has led to it being caught up in the political crossfire.
