Flushing using a flushing chamber
Vacuum operated flushing chamber
The flushing chamber has two openings. The unsealed opening can be found in the area of the invert of the stormwater tank or stormwater sewer, the other one in the upper cover of the flushing chamber. The latter is sealed by a valve with a vacuum pump connected to it (phase 1). As soon as, due to filling or heavy rain, the exceeding of a given water level in the stormwater tank or stormwater sewer is registered by a level gauge (phase 2), the vacuum pump is switched on automatically -- filling the flushing chamber with wastewater up to the maximum filling height (phase 3). As soon as the water level in the stormwater tank or stormwater sewer has again reached dry weather standard (phase 4), the surge wave is triggered by opening the valve (phase 5).
