Measurement of Composite Thickness (2)

Mean composite thickness

The minimum value is determined in the static calculation. Composite thickness and flexural modulus together determine the stiffness of the CIPP liner. An insufficient thickness of the composite can endanger stability.

Test method: with a precision caliper gauge, average composite thickness is measured according to [ENISO11296-4:2011].

Table:

Geometric characteristics of the CIPP product [ENISO11296-4:2011]

Characteristic Requirement
Mean wall thickness,
ec,m, of the composite
Not less than the design thickness
(plus the thickness of any abrasion layer)
Minimum wall thickness,
ec,min, of the composite
Not less than 80% of the design thickness
(plus the thickness of any abrasion layer),
or 3 mm, whichever is greatera
a The ec,min requirement does not apply to points where local wall thickness reduction is caused by irregularity in the existing pipeline.
