Water Project Receives Prestigious Accolade
Jul 01, 2013
The Southern Water’s ‘Cleaner Seas for Sussex’ project, constructed by 4Delivery joint venture (jv) comprising Veolia Water, Costain and MWH, has won another prestigious accolade.
This £300 million project, which installed a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment works at Peacehaven to serve the Brighton and Hove catchment, picked up the ‘Large Firm Category’ for infrastructure projects in the annual Association of Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) awards.
ACE has some 650 UK companies as members, many of them world class. The scope of work undertaken by ACE members can be seen from the other shortlisted projects, ranging from the strengthening of London’s Hammersmith Flyover to the creation of a Singaporean expressway and a Special Economic Zone in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Entries were judged on overall engineering excellence, taking into account factors such as innovation, originality and complexity.
The Peacehaven project was entered for the ACE award by jv partners MWH. The plant is currently handling wastewater and is in the final stage of its commissioning phase, prior to being formally handed over to the client, Southern Water.
The award was handed over at a ceremony at London’s Victoria Park Plaza Hotel by BBC newscaster, Huw Edwards.
“This is further recognition of what has been a truly outstanding project,” said Costain’s Water Sector Director, Matt Crabtree. “The team behind Peacehaven can take great pride in what they’ve done.”
