New Drain Rehab Cutter from PRT Combines Climbing Capability, Multi-Axis Control

Micro Auto Plus makes quick work of vertical stacks and other small-diameter lines.
Pipeline Renewal Technologies (PRT), an innovator in no-dig pipe rehabilitation, is proud to share the new Micro Auto Plus drain rehab cutter. Using an automated system of air bladders, the device inchworms up vertical stacks and clamps into position for precision cutting.
For enhanced productivity, the system offers a touchscreen interface with twin joysticks, and provides visual feedback from an onboard camera with LED illumination and switchable air/water cleaning.
This air-driven cutter delivers plenty of power for reinstatement, milling, grinding and other prep work inside 3- to 6-inch lines. Lines up to 10” can be addressed with an optional attachment. It travels up to 164 feet and can pass through 90-degree bends in 4” pipe. With 3 ½ axes of control (arm rotation, arm swivel, cutter feed and bit speed), the Micro Auto Plus has the dexterity to complete complex work efficiently.
“The unique propulsion system on the Micro Auto Plus really makes quick work of challenging tasks, particularly in vertical stacks,” says Steve Webster, Business Unit Manager for Pipeline Renewal Technologies. “Plus, it saves operators from having to push the cutter up a stack or drop it in from a dangerous roof access.”
The portable, wheeled design of the Micro Auto Plus reel helps contractors reach remote job sites and constricted access points. A variety of available cutter bits answer a wide range of cutting and milling tasks. An available attachment makes the cutter suitable for lines as large as 10” in diameter.
