Essential Utilities Inc. Announces New Vice President of Operations for Aqua Family of Companies
Mar 06, 2020
Essential Utilities Inc. announced the appointment of Mark McKoy as vice president of operations for Aqua, which provides drinking water and wastewater services to more than 3 million people across eight states.
McKoy brings more than 15 years’ experience in water utility finance and operations leadership to Aqua. Most recently, he served as vice president and general manager for SUEZ North America’s New Jersey water utility, where he was responsible for $1.3 billion in water and wastewater assets, $260 million in annual revenues, 2,200 miles of water mains and service for 850,000 customers throughout northern and western New Jersey.
Previously, he served in numerous roles of increasing responsibility for SUEZ, including director of finance policy & procedures and treasury; director of revenue integrity; director of internal audit; and senior director of New Jersey customer operations.
“I am thoroughly impressed by Mark’s strong accounting, audit, finance and operations background,” said Essential Chairman and CEO Christopher Franklin. “I’m excited to see his extensive water utility experience play out at Aqua.”
McKoy will report to Colleen Arnold, currently Aqua’s deputy chief operating officer. Arnold will assume the role of president and oversee all Aqua’s water and wastewater utilities upon Essential’s closing of Peoples, a Pittsburgh-based natural gas utility.
“Mark’s background and leadership in the utility sector will enable him to have positive impact on Aqua operations from day one. I know he will hit the ground running and I’m thrilled to have him on our team,” said Arnold.
McKoy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting and a Master of Business Administration degree from Monroe College in New York. He is certified in risk management assurance and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Water Works Association, the New Jersey Utilities Association, the National Association of Water Companies and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
