SBWWI Leakage & Metering Seminar (Leamington Spa)

SBWWI are once again holding a 2-day event covering Leakage and Metering issues. The theme for the 2011 event is "Get Smart" looking at smarter ways of managing leakage over the long term and using smart technologies in the leakage and metering arenas.

To kick off this years ”Get Smart” conference we are proposing to hear key note addresses from the Environment Agency, and DEFRA, water company executives, customer and environmental champions, on the theme of long term leakage performance and reporting. Presenters will cover some of the issues that will face our industry from climate challenges, increasing expectations from customers and evolving regulation. The conference will then move on to look at some of the technical issues and innovative solutions for tackling leakage on the customer owned part of the water network. Amongst those participating are RPS, Southern Water, Groundbreaker Systems, and 3M. We will also hear how pressure management might be used to improve customer service with contributions from Welsh Water, and Aztec Engineering.

Day 2, will move on to look at ‘smart metering’ for customers, and the potential impact from the energy smart meter roll out, along with potential benefits for delivering improved customer service. We will hear updates from recent research and innovation developments, as well as international experiences with contributions from OFWAT, Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, and Elster Metering.

The day will then move on to look at ‘smart networks’ and how new technology and evolving operational practices can help the industry to better manage the water network going forward, and help meet some of the long term challenges identified earlier in the conference. Severn Trent Water will present on their development and implementation of strategic meters and MWH Farrer will look at SMART Grids.
