Since the world's first No-Dig event held in the UK some 20 years ago, trenchless technology has evolved into a mainstream branch of the construction industry, offering a cost-effective means of asset maintenance and new installation without the disruption associated with traditional methods.

Increasing traffic volumes and greater awareness of social and environmental costs add to the appeal of trenchless methods, especially in urban areas.

Today, new challenges for pipeline renovation and renewal in sensititve locations are presented by the proposal that water companies become responsible for all private sewers, coupled with general increase in both capital and maintenance programmes throughout the utility industries.
