International No-Dig Madrid 2014

The Iberian region has a 20 year history of utilising trenchless technology, mainly in directional drilling and pipeline rehabilitation. In the last decade there has been a substantial increase of new installation works in expanding conurbations.

In addition, as the utility organisations and Government are examining the need to upgrade and maintain the existing infrastructure of water and wastewater, there are significant opportunities for the trenchless technology market to participate in the future investment.

Political lobbying by IbSTT has already secured the confidence and commitment of seven cities whose Mayors have already signed letters declaring they are a ‘No trenching city’ - including Madrid, San Sebastian, Zaragoza, Valencia, Tarragona, Albacete and Oviedo.

IbSTT and ISTT look forward to welcoming the international trenchless technology community to join this important forum where the industry can look forward to a lively exchange of information with municipal utility engineers and managers in the region.
