Year 2011 will be the 20th anniversary of the Directive 91/271/EEC. In the same time, the EC Commission is expected to release the sixth implementation report in summer. one should also have noted the report produced in 2009 by the European Court of Auditors on the effectiveness of Structural Measures spending on waste water treatment for the 1994-99 and 2000-06 programme periods.

Scope of the conference:

The 7th EWA Brussels Conference is a unique opportunity to take stock on the implementation of Directive 91/271/EEC and its contribution in achieving the goals of the Water Framework Directive.

The Conference will be divided in 3 sessions:

will present an overview of the Urban Waste Water Treatment situation across Europe and wil discuss 3 regional perspectives.
Session 2 will discuss the interplay between the Water Framework Directive and Directive 91/271/EEC. It will focus on the issues where closer coordination might prove to be necessary
Session 3 will confront different views on how to respond to the needs for future investments.

With the organisation of this conference, EWA intends to provide a valuable contribution to ongoing debates on the EU Water Policy Fitness Check and the 2012 Blueprint.
