Introducing Intertek PipeAwareTM: Pipeline Quality Assurance
Feb 07, 2018
Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, is pleased to unveil a new pipeline quality verification solution, Intertek PipeAware, offering pipeline owners digital access to pipeline integrity data which is vital for assurance and compliance purposes.
PipeAware is unique in that it combines traceability and pipe inspection into one task so that customers achieve full transparency into the manufacturing process of the asset, either offline or online, 24/7, from anywhere around the world.
By capturing vital inspection, testing and material information, customers can be confident that pipeline manufacturing processes comply with regulatory and predetermined specifications, enabling them to make informed decisions that ensure pipelines operate safely and efficiently.
Intertek PipeAware will be unveiled at the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 2018 Exploration and Production Winter Standards Meeting on 22nd January 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. PipeAware will initially be available in North America, a region known for its vast network of pipelines transporting large quantities of natural gas and liquid petroleum products.
The oil and gas pipeline industry has grown rapidly, spurring the need for increased regulatory and traceability scrutiny that requires pipeline owners and operators to ensure that pipe assets adhere to stringent and expanding regulatory compliance requirements.
Intertek’s pipe tracking solution offers clients easy access to pipeline data during and after the manufacturing, construction, and operation phases; replacing current and unreliable paper-based tracking. This capability is critical should an incident or problem arise where pipeline data would be necessary for research and resolution.
The software will continue to be enhanced to further capture detailed data to provide customers with a complete end-to-end Total Quality Assurance pipeline tracking solution throughout the full life cycle of the pipe asset.
David VanderSchee, Sr. Vice President North America, Industry Services, said: “By combining our extensive expertise in pipe manufacturing inspection with cutting-edge software technology, Intertek PipeAware will provide our customers with the confidence and peace of mind they need to ensure the safe and reliable operation of their pipe assets. In addition, customers will receive the added benefits of achieving cost savings through better management of risk; and efficiencies through accurate, near real-time reporting and tracking.”
