HammerHead launches new ROUGHNECK R400 Pneumatic Rock Hammer System
HammerHead has launched the new ROUGHNECK R400 Pneumatic Rock Hammer system for the underground construction industry. The system includes the R400 air hammer, 5.25-inch straight and offset bits, patent-pending pullback kit, control station/oiler, drill conversion kit and universal HD high-flow rock drill housing. The ROUGHNECK R400 is designed to drill at rates up to 150 feet per hour while providing enhanced steering performance.

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon launches UK’s first Difgen turbine with Scottish Water
The first turbine of its kind in the UK, capable of generating enough green energy to power up to 150 homes, has been installed in Scottish Water pipes. Capable of producing 600 MWh of electricity each year, the technology known as Difgen is located in a strategic trunk water main at Denny, near Falkirk, reducing the amount of electricity Scottish Water needs to buy from the National Grid.

First Industrial GE LEAPmbr Wastewater Treatment System Commissioned in Spain
GE announced the commissioning of its high-performance LEAPmbr membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology at a wastewater treatment plant owned by the Spanish poultry processing firm, Procavi S.L. GE’s LEAPmbr technology will help Procavi improve water quality and double its water treatment capacity without expanding the existing facility. This is the first industrial LEAPmbr installation in Spain.

Fast and Safe through Wuxi
Eight tunnel boring machines from Herrenknecht excavated almost 16 kilometers of tunnel in only 20 months, crossing beneath the emerging metropolis of Wuxi. The machines mastered challenging tunnelling stretches with small overburdens. The last breakthrough, for the time being, was celebrated on March 3, 2013. The first two metro lines in the 3000 year old town on Taihu Lake near Shanghai are expected to start operation in 2014. A total of 5 metro lines are planned.
