UNITRACC News Issue: September 2008

Welcome

Robert Stein

Dear Sir or Madam,

After a long summer break we are now back with the latest news and information from the sector of underground infrastructures.

This UNITRACC Newsletter edition tells you about the international workshop on the reduction of drinking water loss, which took place on the United Nations Campus in Bonn, Germany. The workshop was organized within the scope of the UN-Water Decade Programme on Capacity Development (UNW-DPC) and UN-Habitat. During the workshop UNITRACC was introduced as a web-based education portal to qualify staff and to tackle problems such as drinking water loss sustainably. Read more in the UNITRACC News Section.

There are also new additions to the UNITRACC Area "Information". In the Technical Information System "Trenchless Technology for Installation of Cables and Pipelines" by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dietrich Stein now also the chapters on "Steering, Measurement and Monitoring" of pipe jacking projects as well as on "Soil Deformation" are available. They cover all requirements and necessities to keep the pipe string's deviation from the design position as small as possible and thus to prevent errors during jacking. At the same time the chapter on soil deformation introduces all kinds of deformation, explains calculation processes and possible effects of soil deformation.

Get unresticted access to all 37 Technical Information Systems on UNITRACC already with a UNITRACC Starter Package.

Enjoy exploring the underground with UNITRACC.

Kind regards,

Dr.-Ing. Robert Stein
(UNITRACC Editor)
