UNITRACC News Issue: April 2010

Welcome

Robert Stein

Dear Sir or Madam,

It's springtime! Everything is prospering - and so does the pipeline construction business. Various new inventions have just been put on the market and the staff members of many planning departments are eager to cope with the next major challenges:

While Stock - B.I.G. has just presented the hydraulically driven GeoPump for borehole filling and Aker Wirth said that they are about to work on a new machine for rapid underground mine development, Qbase Data Services Ltd. informed us about the release of their brand new suite of practical geospatial data tools.

In the meantime, The Robbins Company is using two huge TBMs to build the infrastructure for a metro under Chongqing, the most populous city of the world, where the engineers have to deal with a tricky combination of low cover, water inflows and some rather small curve radii.
So evidently, there is a lot of movement in the underground - and even more to explore.

Enjoy the subterranean world and stay curious!

Kind regards,

Dr.-Ing. Robert Stein
(UNITRACC Editor)
