The Banyan W.A.T.E.R. Report Reveals Water Complexities Threatening Enterprise Resource Management Systems
Feb 26, 2020
Banyan Water, the leading provider of data-driven water conservation software for the built environment, today released its inaugural Banyan Water Analysis Trends and Emerging Risk (W.A.T.E.R.) Report.
The report contains an in-depth analysis of data collected across Banyan’s portfolio of properties throughout 2019, identifying the hidden costs of water mismanagement and illustrating water’s risk potential due to the interconnectedness of numerous water-related variables on a property.
“Water can no longer be monitored and managed through the insufficient data provided in a monthly bill,” said Gillan Taddune, CEO of Banyan. “After analyzing our customers’ properties in 2019, it’s clear that data-first water optimization strategies coupled with intelligent technology are critical in preventing water-related threats that exacerbate water waste and drive costly bills.”
Combined with market data on water usage and climate in the U.S., the analysis explores:
-
The impact of critical water leaks: Banyan identified—and stopped—more than 850 leaks for its customers, preventing more than 234 million gallons of water waste.
-
Variations in average daily rainfall across regions: Fluctuations in average daily rainfall between 2017 and 2019 resulted in unpredictable water supply and demand, complicating property management and increasing the risk of loss.
-
Changes in water rates by region: Banyan reported an increase in yearly water rates across the southern, western and midwestern regions of the U.S., with some regions experiencing as much as an 11.85 percent increase in rates year-over-year.
-
Flow rate comparisons in appliances and fixtures: Existing buildings and local infrastructure are not standardized across the United States, making it difficult to anticipate water-related expenses throughout a property’s lifetime.
Founded in 2011, Banyan Water is the leading provider of data-driven water conservation software for the built environment. Using smart devices and real-time monitoring and analytics, Banyan protects Earth’s most precious resource while generating untapped revenue for clients. Since the company’s inception, Banyan has saved more than 3 billion gallons of water—equivalent to the resources required to make 150 million pints of beer—secured the esteemed EPA WaterSense label on select products, and in 2019, increased customer asset value by $20 million
