Northumbrian Water CEO to speak at Women in Water event
Nov 13, 2018
Northumbrian Water chief executive Heidi Mottram is headlining a new event from British Water aimed at opening up opportunities for women in the water industry. Women in Water takes place in London on 27 November 2018 and delegates will hear the career experiences of senior professionals working in water and wastewater.
Along with career guidance for women working in water, delegates will also hear expert advice on initiatives to help organisations improve diversity through recruitment and employment best practice.
Angela Smith MP, co-chair of the All Party Parliamentary Water Group will also be speaking at the evening event, alongside Kate Davies, chief operating officer, EU Skills; Alice Elder, senior asset engineer, Affinity Water and Karen Dingley, head of mining & water services, WSP.
Hilary Tew, human resources director, Stantec and Sara Cain, partner at engineering consultancy HWH Associates will share their career journeys and Richard Khaldi, director - energy & utilities, PA Consulting, will offer his perspective on diversifying recruitment based on extensive engagement with the supply chain.
Lloyd Martin, chief executive, British Water said, “The UK water industry has historically been very male-dominated, but this is changing and I’m delighted British Water is taking a lead with this important event. The number of women entering the sector is increasing and women are taking on a much wider range of roles, including senior management positions, but there is much more to do.
“Broadening out the workforce brings multiple benefits to businesses and I urge all business leaders to join this event, which will explore practical solutions to help bring about diversity in the water industry. Women in Water will also directly help women working in water identify ways to develop their own careers and will be an excellent networking opportunity.”
Women in Water is sponsored by Anglian Water, Thames Water and Cranfield University and hosted by PA Consulting at their headquarters in Victoria, London.
