Itron Wins Company of the Year Award for AMI Solutions in Asia-Pacific Region.
Itron, Inc., which is innovating the way utilities and cities manage energy and water, was awarded by Frost & Sullivan as Company of the Year in the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solutions industry in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Itron was recognized for its proven history of breakthrough technology and its innovative AMI solutions, which empower utilities and cities to automate time-consuming and labor-intensive manual meter reading systems.
In addition to commending Itron on its core AMI offerings, the report notes that complementary solutions such as managed services and Itron Enterprise Edition (IEE) Meter Data Management, have helped Itron position itself as a leading AMI provider in APAC.
Frost & Sullivan also noted Itron’s contract with Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) Thailand, one of the largest utility providers in Southeast Asia, as a key indicator of momentum in the region.
The ongoing project will utilize Itron’s OpenWay® Riva solution, which has “set the industry standard for end-to-end AMI solutions,” according to Frost & Sullivan. The Utility will also integrate nearly 120,000 OpenWay Riva electricity meters to enhance the utility’s operations, grid reliability and data management.
“We believe that Itron’s expertise in smart meter technology is unparalleled, and in the Asia-Pacific region, Itron has a strong track record of working with utilities and cities around the world to improve metering technology, networking architecture and other software and services,” said Rajalingam A C, who is Industry manager for Energy and Environment at Frost & Sullivan.
“Itron’s commitment to improving its AMI solutions through in-house research, assimilation of complementary technologies and diverse networked solutions deserves high praise.”
“We are honored to receive this award from Frost & Sullivan,” said Paul Nelsen, vice president of Commercial and Customer Enablement for Asia-Pacific at Itron. “This award validates our dedication to supporting utilities in the Asia-Pacific region and affirms our mission of creating a more resourceful world by delivering innovative energy, water and city outcomes.”
