Missouri American Water Finishes Project to Improve Sewer Lines

Dec 07, 2018

The company plans to upsize and reroute sewer mains as part of its commitment to Arnold.

Missouri American Water is wrapping up one sewer project and planning for another in Arnold, Mo. at a combined cost of $2.7 million. The planned projects are part of the company’s commitment to invest $5 million in Arnold in the first four years after taking ownership in 2015.

Missouri American Water is in the final stages of a project to line approximately 7,000 feet of sewer lines in the city with what is known as Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP). The lining strengthens existing lines and shores up any leaks.

In addition, the company will soon begin upsizing and relocating portions of sewer lines in Arnold. That work is in the design phase, with construction tentatively scheduled to begin in March 2019. The project is mainly in easements starting in easement on Shady Court crossing Shady Drive, A Street and Starling Airport Road while connecting to the existing system in easement near the Meramec River.

“This project will reduce the number of sewer backups in the city by allowing more waste to flow more easily,” said Mark Migneco, operations manager in Arnold. “We’re proud of the work we’re doing here and the way we’ve been able to solve some problems that have been ongoing for years.”

Missouri American Water annually invests more than $200 million statewide in infrastructure improvements, including projects such as this.
